not easy being green
7in7 is committed to being as environmentally conscious as possible. We’re still using signage from our very first conference in 2016. Our swag is small, local, and recycled. We avoid any single-use plastic and we partner with local organizations to promote nomad social responsibilty. But that’s just a start.
We may be a small company, but we can have a mighty impact.
Here’s what we’re doing in 2020.
1% for the Planet
1% for the Planet is a global movement to inspire businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual memberships and everyday actions.
Businesses who join the network commit to donating 1% of gross sales through a combination of monetary, in-kind, and approved promotional support directly to environmental nonprofits.
7in7 is happy to be joining as a business member in 2020!
7in7 doesn’t exactly have a traditional business footprint, but our conference produces carbon emissions associated with attendee travel, Airbnb stays, and venue energy usage.
Carbonfund.org is recommended by The Points Guy, and partners with carriers like Alaska Airlines to offset air travel, so we feel confident using them to purchase our offsets.
We’ll be donating a “small event” (less than 250 👩🏻💼) to offset 16,500 lbs of CO2 in 2020.
7in7 alumnus Robin Finney posted in 7in7’s FB group in January that she’s donating one tree for every hour of flying she does in 2020. This inspired us to do something similar!
We’re going to plant a tree for every 7in7 Year Five attendee 🌲
According to Carbonfund.org, deforestation is responsible for roughly 11% of climate change, and by planting trees we can improve air and soil quality, preserve biodiversity, and repair habitats, among other benefits.
